The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s data show the average life expectancy in the United States is 78.8 years. But the National Center for Health Statistics, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the National Association of Public Health Statistics and Information Systems have analyzed the data further to assess life expectancy at the neighborhood level. The findings show life expectancy rates can vary greatly, even from block to block.
